This Week 8-11-25

A tip jar.

Council is off with a couple of budget workshops to start the week. And a humble ask for support.

With the Florida League of Cities Conference this week, council didn’t schedule a regular meeting but will be holding a budget workshop doubleheader Monday August 11th (today if your’e reading this via the newsletter.) While it’s supposed to be focused on “enterprise funds” — water, wastewater, garbage, parking — the agenda includes three items for the general fund and the mayor’s proposed $1 million in social action and arts funding. The evening agenda is dedicated to the stormwater budget. I’ll have wrap-ups for both sessions later this week to go along with the first workshop wrap up.

With no agenda to preview, if I may indulge you to humbly pass the hat and ask for your consideration in donating and supporting me and my efforts with Tampa Monitor. I have been fortunate to have folks assist in the basic operating costs of the site; there are other expenses I would like to see if this work could cover. I do not have a background in marketing and fundraising and have continually put that aside to focus on infrastructure and tools like the updated remix of the agenda and the embedded maps. The current development database I’d like to finish work on. And the continued commitment to a weekly preview of the agenda out by Monday morning.

If you are reading this via email, view in your browser for donation links. It was recently suggested I also include Venmo. @tampamonitor is now another option.

My goal with Tampa Monitor has always been to bring more awareness to the decisions being made week-to-week in the city—particularly before a vote is taken. That is when your voice carries the most weight. I have always encouraged readers to share their opinion with council and the admin. Do not underestimate the power of your input. That includes voices of support.

Again, to those that have helped spread the word, sent kind words, and donated, thank you. To everyone, thank you for your interest in the city I love. Have a great week.

We had TWO budget workshops yesterday. The Stormwater meeting was by far more impressive than the one in the morning.
There are so many issues that NEED to be addressed, but the administration is busting their behinds to piss away our tax dollars on vanity projects.

Sorry the post wasn’t clear it was two different workshops.
