This Week 11-14-24

Well. I took a break. Quite quit if you will. I did a poor job of time management and wanting to dig into the budget and keep up with the weekly agendas. Some frustration set in realizing the budget for most Council members was decided and there wouldn’t be any robust discussions. Unless you want to talk about the relatively small piece of the budget they spent hours on, at one point fighting over a $5,000 grant. But that’s done. Some good things came out of the process that will hopefully better inform Council during the year where things are and hopefully more discussion about the 5 year CIP.

I don’t think I can summarize the other events that have occurred since then. I regret not keeping up with sharing info here during that time, but I was following along and shared some thoughts directly to Council. Let me publicly state here my deep appreciation and gratitude to everyone that works for the city and what they’ve managed to accomplish so far. What I can commit to is being here for the discussions going forward.

As to that, I have been working on some tools to help save me some time, things I’ve had sketches and notes for but hadn’t pulled together. I have a few more I want to build so this week’s post won’t be a full preview of the agendas. The CRA meet this week and Council are starting to make up for canceled land use hearings due to the hurricanes. Next week’s agenda will have some important items and I want to be prepared to fully cover them.

One of the tools I built was one to help me clean up the agenda. The version I am publishing is meant to be an easier to read version without rewriting it. I am only stripping out extraneous information like who made the motion or when (not to say that information can’t add context). The goal is to get to the heart of what the item is. The link to the online agenda can be used for details and backup materials.
